So while she isn’t quite a “new” addition to the team, she has become more prominent on productions, and it was time she got a proper introduction!
Another Chicago 48 Hour Film Project weekend kicks off on Friday, September 23rd, and we have pulled together a team for competition once again! This wild weekend of filmmaking occurs once a year and challenges teams to write, shoot, and edit a short film in just…you guessed it…48 hours!

Earlier this week on May 25th, the winners for the 42nd Annual Telly Awards were announced, and Motion Source made the list for the fourth year in a row! We submitted three projects to the competition and received recognition for all three: one Bronze Telly and two Silver Tellys. These join our growing collection, and bring our total Telly Award count to 11. We are excited to share with you our newly-awarded projects!

As most summers do, this year’s flew! We have been unusually quiet on social the past couple months, but we have been hard at work behind the scenes. July and August have been especially busy this year as some COVID restrictions were lifted, new safety protocols went into place, and we returned to sets, both in studio and on location. With fall approaching, we want to catch you up on what we have been up to!

Inspired by major brands releasing ads comprised of employee-captured and supplied footage, we decided to create our own team-generated brand video. While we are no strangers to creating our own video content--we are a video production company, after all--this was the first time we would be creating a video separated from one another.
Another Motion Source Movember in the books! For the month of November, our team participated in our third Movember; a time to grow mustaches in the name of the Movember Foundation. This year, we exceeded our team goal and raised $1,440, funds that will be used to tackle prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health and suicide prevention. As we reflect on the past month, each Movember team member shared their motivation for participating and thoughts on the experience.
The holiday season has become synonymous with bingeing. Traditionally, this begins with food, which, in the sluggishness it imparts, leads to hours upon hours of couch time. Sure, during that caloric coma you could make good on your plan to rewatch the entirety of Game of Thrones; but we are here to tell you there is another way! The Motion Source staff has come together to offer up a cornucopia of binge-worthy viewing delights that you may not be familiar with. From Victorian period dramas to sports docu-series, we’ve covered just about every major area of the menu. So slip on your sweatpants, reach for your remote, and tune in to these televised treats.
We are at it again - year 3 of Movember has begun! Today, November 1st, kicks off Movember - a hairy, but important time when men’s health issues are brought to the forefront through the power of the ‘stache. Motion Source has formed a team for the third year to raise awareness and funds through the Movember Foundation. Once again, we will join the movement by putting down the razors and standing up for men’s health.
Fall is here and Halloween is quickly approaching! We love this season and the holiday. Some of the Motion Source crew shared a few of their favorite costumes from over the years. No tricks, all treats here - enjoy!
Welcome back to our Employee Feature series, where we give you a “behind-the-scenes” look at our team. This Meet Motion Source article features Sal Marquez, who joined the team earlier this year. He pulls double duty in production and post-production, and can be found either working on set or in the office editing.
Collaborating with a new artist and working in a new genre proved a fun challenge for us. “Dime” (pronounced dee-may, meaning “tell me” in Spanish) was our first music video for a Reggaeton song and debut music video for artist Chris Mar. The excitement from both the artist and crew fueled the passion for the project and made the final outcome that much more rewarding for all involved.

While my list of books to read is nearly bottomless, I am always seeking for additional titles to tack on. This has led me into many discussions with friends and associates regarding what they consider to be some of the finest reading material they’ve ever engaged with. Which, leads me to where we are right now: a blog post about book recommendations. I must also admit that a portion of the motivation for this post comes from the fact that all to often people assume we are film nerds and nothing else! Without further ado, we are about to prove that wrong…
